Description

Listen in on real conversations between designers and manufacturer reps and learn what questions to ask when specifying products and how to build these key relationships.  

Ever wonder how designers navigate through new products and materials as they consider what is best for their clients and projects? Join us for a series of conversations between designers and manufacturing reps as they review new products. You will leave with an understanding of the questions to ask when evaluating products, how to navigate relationships with product reps, and fresh insight into what’s up-and coming from manufacturers.  

What You Will Learn:

  • Identify key questions to ask manufacturer’s representatives to learn more about a new product. 
  • Recognize areas of investigation to explore related to product development, application, use, and maintenance. 
  • Gain tips for effective conversations with manufacturer’s representatives which lead to strong working relationships. 
  • List key characteristics and features of each product reviewed.

Passionate about all things colorful, sustainable and unique. Shane Jones works as a designer account executive, Sherwin-Williams Paint. She has worked there for more than six years serving the North Carolina design community. 

A graduate of UNC Greensboro with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture, Shane is responsible for educating the residential market including interior designers, architects, and design students about color and product resources at Sherwin-Williams. Shane’s goal is to engage and inspire designers. 

Shane is Past President 2018/19 of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Carolinas Chapter and is currently on the ASID National Committee serving as (CST) Chapter Support Team member.

Emily Denisar

Emily Denisar is a certified interior designer with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Virginia Tech. She practiced as a designer in Alexandria, VA from 2007 through 2012. She has worked in various capacities throughout the industry including a role as an Independent Furniture Manufacturers’ rep and later as Director of Sales for Knoll dealer CBI of South Florida. Emily joined the Davis Team in 2017 as the Regional Sales Director.

Patricia Dominguez

Patricia Dominguez, Vice President of Architect and Design Sales for Cosentino North America, oversees commercial business development and the kitchen and bath studios business for the global surfacing leader. In her 12 years with Cosentino, the relationships she has cultivated with the country's leading architects, designers, and kitchen and bath dealers have played an integral part in its exponential growth in the United States, which makes up more than 60 percent of its global sales. 

Her leadership at Cosentino and commitment to the industry have earned her numerous accolades, including the 2015 ASID Industry Partner Merit Award and the 2010 ASID Presidential Award. Her passion for people and relationships is reflected in her commitment to service and philanthropy. She previously sat on the Board of Trustees for the ASID Foundation, and has given her time to many Houston nonprofits, serving as the president of the Latin Women’s Initiative for three years, and working with Prepared 4 Life, Lemonade Day, the Junior League of Houston and the Neighborhood Centers.

Susan Guest is Owner and Designer of Guest Interiors, a residential and commercial interior design firm founded in 1993 in Hickory, NC. 

Susan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 1984. Her accolades include an ASID Carolinas residential design specialty award, and 2010 and 2020 Presidential Citations. Susan is proud to have her work featured in “Spectacular Homes of the Carolinas.” She is a certified member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council and has been awarded Best Interior Design Firm in the Catawba Valley multiple years in a row. 

Susan’s ASID Carolinas positions include being past President, former board member, Student Affairs Chair, Nominating Committee, Foothills Design Community Chair three times, Otto Zenke Awards Chair, Transitions Chair and current Communications Chair.

Young Huh

A Detroit native, Young Huh received a degree in English from Smith College and a law degree from Fordham University. While pursuing further education and an internship in interior design, Young discovered her true calling and founded her eponymous New York City-based design firm in 2007.  

Resetting the design narrative for each project, her work is about finding harmony and dynamism through the application of classic and modern design principles. Her firm continues to expand beyond its original repertoire to include large commercial and hospitality projects, as well as a growing line of licensed collections.  

In 2019 and 2020, Young was included in Elle Decor’s prestigious A-List. She was named one of Vogue’s five interior designers on the rise, included as a finalist in the Andrew Martin Design Review Volume 24 and in 2011, she won the Connecticut Cottages & Gardens Innovation in Design Award. Young actively bolsters the local and global design community, participating in speaking engagements and charitable events including, among others, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House and NKBA Board of Directors.
